What Do We Promise?
Food From Friends is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing food and daily needs to children and adults within our community to help achieve their maximum potential.
We pledge to provide every child in our community with the food and support they need to help them be the best they can be. No child should have to face a day wondering if he has food. Statistics prove a well-nourished child is more likely to do well in school and in life.
In 2022…
We offered 4-day food bags at Thanksgiving and Christmas to a neighborhood preschool and alternative high school. We also helped start a pantry in the preschool. That year our family packed 210 bags of food in our home and knew we needed and wanted to do more.
In 2023…
We incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. With two additional public schools in the area, we packed a total of 790 bags of food that would feed a child for four days.
In 2024…
We also teamed up with Main Street Saloon and Upper Crust Barberton and provided 1500 weekend bags for their summer lunch program. Firestone Park students received lunch 5 days a week during the ten weeks they are off school. We also added more Akron public schools and distributed 2,250 holiday bags.
Today…
We once again teamed up with Main Street Saloon and Upper Crust Barberton and distributed 1,880 weekend bags. Collectively we served 16,861 meals (breakfast and lunch) in 10 weeks! Our goal for the remainder of 2025 is to make as many bags as possible to help the students in the area have adequate food over the holiday breaks from school.
